Island Brac is situated in Middle Dalmatia, 9 nautical miles distant from Split - the biggest city in Dalmatia. It is well connected by car-ferry lines from Split and Makarska (navigation is less than hour long), by speedy hydrofoils, but also by aeroplanes directly from numerous European cities or via Zagreb airport to the "Brac airport".
The legend says:
"When the God was creating the Earth, on the seventh day he turned around, looked what he had done and pleased by sight he started to cry. One teardrop felt on the Earth and so become island Brac."
Island Brac is the biggest Dalmatian island with area of 394 square kilometres; it is 45 kilometres long, 14 kilometres width, it has175 kilometres of shoreline. The island has 2700 hours of insolation with average summer sea temperature of 24°C and also it is the highest island in Adriatic Sea (Vidova gora - 778 m). There are 13000 permanent inhabitants living in more than twenty settlements, who are doing for living in agriculture, fishing, tourism and work on broad famous stone from Brac.
Postira is small town with 1300 inhabitants, picturesque and popular resort on the northern coast of the island, 10 kilometres distant from island's administrative centre - Supetar. Beauty and Mediterranean feeling of the fisherman's town, surrounded by thick pine wood, vineyards, fig trees and olive plants, fields planted by mandarins, kiwis, oranges and lemons, provides relaxation from every day rush of modern civilisation.
